“Straw Dogs” – an American classic re-emerging (official trailer released)

It aught to be as hard-hitting as the September heat, when a mild mannered man from the city gets pushed to the limit and must rise to protect what’s his in the re-telling of an American classic. “Straw Dogs” the official trailer is here.

The plot: David Sumner (played by James Marsden), a screenwriter and his beautiful actress wife Amy Sumner (Kate Bosworth), go home to the Deep South to prepare the family home for sale, after the death of Amy’s father. Soon after they arrive, their marriage hits a bumpy road and old conflicts re-surface, and the locals are not helping. Amy’s ex-boyfriend Charlie (Alexander Skarsgård) starts some trouble that leads to a violent confrontation.

Helming this re-make of Sam Peckinpah’s 1971 classic, is director Rod Lurie, from his own screenplay. Lurie wrote and directed “The Contender” (1999), and also directed “The Last Castle” (2001). So you know this is going to be a thrilling ride.

Based on the ABC Motion Picture Screenplay by: David Zelag Goodman and Sam Peckinpah. The original film was based on the Novel “The Siege of Trencher’s Farm” by: Gordon Williams.
