Affleck project on Joaquin Phoenix is ready. But, when can we see it?

Actor and now director Casey Affleck has finished making a mockumentary featuring his brother in-law, Joaquin Phoenix, venturing into music business, a road traveled by some actors, at times subjecting us to sounds they call music and we (the public) call entertainment for dead cats. Last year when we first heard about Affleck’s project, we quickly jumped to put a few factors into the equation:  Phoenix was good enough to be picked to play Johnny Cash, by Johnny Cash – check. He actually took guitar and voice lessons to play Johnny Cash – check.  Joaquin comes from a talented family who started as street musicians – check.  So, we automatically assumed country music maybe a suitable outlet for the talented artist. Then, we quickly found out the genre of music chosen by the actor is rap. Okaaaay!!!

An eccentric actor on the big screen, yet a very private person, Phoenix’s public image has been somewhat of a riddle, but it was his odd appearance on “Late Show With David Letterman” last year that made us all go “He said what?”  Phoenix arrived on the Letterman stage looking more like Grizzly Adams, hiding under bushy long hair, a big beard and dark sunglasses. Then, for most of his interview he mumbled and grumbled. He was convincingly in a kafuffle. Letterman even said to him “I’m sorry you couldn’t be here tonight.” Now, there are some talks about an industry screening for the mockumentary held in Hollywood this past week, probably to catch the eyes of potential buyers.  Apparently, the film will reveal whether or not Phoenix was serious about quitting his acting career last year.  But so far information on this project has been hush-hush. Will Phoenix go from being an Oscar-nominated actor to a Grammy winning rapper? That’s a whole lot of “rapping” to be done for when the film “drops” after finding a buyer-distributor. ** At BNH we are very interested in seeing it. Are you??

‘Anchorman’ sequel is a no go.
