Irish hunk Colin O’Donoghue makes a splashing debut as Captain Hook on ABC’s “Once Upon A Time”

Hunky leading man Colin O’Donoghue is a fast-rising star in the Hollywood firmament. He followed up a splashy turn opposite Anthony Hopkins in the thriller The Rite earlier last year with an equally eye-catching gig as Captain Hook in the ABC fantasy drama Once Upon a Time.

Don’t make us bewitch you into becoming a fan of this handsome Irish lad! Jump on the bandwagon now. And we’re going to take a moment and pat ourselves on the back for spotting genuine talent before Tinseltown caught on.

The Huffington Post called his addition to Once Upon a Time“exceptional casting” and praised his ability to walk a fine line between campiness and genuine emotion. “O’Donoghue sold Hook’s grief and rage believably, and considering some of the despicable things [the villainous Rumplestiltskin has] done thus far, it’s hard not to be on Hook’s side in his quest for revenge. (That he’s easy on the eyes certainly doesn’t hurt, either.)”

Meanwhile, EW.com has dubbed O’Donoghue “the Hottie of the High Seas,” adding “the captain’s debut lived up to admittedly high expectations.”

TRIVIA: Colin plays guitar in the Irish rock band The Enemies who played live, last year, at SXSW.
