Anyone who is a real fan of Elvis Presley, or those classic black and white photographs of Hollywood icons, will recognize the picture of Elvis kissing a mystery blonde, with her back against the railing, about to lock lips with the king of rock ‘n roll.

It was perhaps another one of those show-biz flings kept on the D. L., until now. VanityFair.com has revealed the identity of the woman. Barbara Gray, now 75, still very beautiful, we think.  On Monday, on NBC’s TODAY show, Gray and the photographer who snapped the legendary image, Alfred Wertheimer appeared live and talked about how it all went down.

Gray told NBC’s Matt Lauer that the photos captured moments from what she calls a “spontaneous date” between the rock-n-roll icon and herself, and that before that day they had only spoken on the phone, but never met.  The famous photo known as  “The Kiss,” shows a playful, intimate moment between Gray and Elvis. However Gray said she felt no sparks with the then up-and-coming singer who will later be known as “the king.”

“Maybe he had sparks, but I didn’t even know who he was,” Gray told Lauer.

OK, we  know she didn’t  just say that the king got no game.

On the day of the shoot, the photographer didn’t even bother to get Grey’s name. “I never realized that these would become iconic,” Gray explained. “Nineteen years went by where nobody called me for an Elvis Presley photograph. The day he died, Time magazine called me up and said ‘Bring your pictures over immediately.'”

The only other time Gray heard from Elvis?

“I got a Christmas card from him once, but that was it,” she said. “Shortly after that, I left the state so I don’t know if he tried to reach me or not.”

So, her fifteen minutes took a little longer than expected but this girl hit the jackpot of celebrities to be seen with.
