British funnyman Ricky Gervais has been inked to host the Golden Globes for a second time.  The 48 year old actor says it is both an honor and a surprise. Ricky jokes, “I can’t believe they invited me back after the awful things I said. Let’s see how far I can go this time.”  At this year’s broadcast some of the comedian’s material zeroed in on Mel Gibson’s past alcohol problems (who can ever forget Mel calling the female sergeant Sugar Tits?  Priceless.)  and Paul McCartney’s expensive divorce from Heather Mills.  As for what the suits feel about Gervais, Exec VP of Alternative Programming at NBC and Universal Media Studios Paul Telegdy says, “As viewers discovered with our last awards telecast, Ricky’s surprising and unpredictable humor is a great fit for the Globes, which will continue as a live event across the nation…He’s a true force of nature with a wicked sense of humor who always keeps everyone on their toes waiting for the unexpected.”  The 68th annual awards will be presented January 16th at its usual home at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.  The Globes is usually one big, drunken party and Ricky will no doubt set the tone for a fun night full of delightfully shocking moments.
