Too Cool To Groove? Not When KELIS is Playing

We know her Milkshake brings all the boys to the yard. But now, KELIS wants you to really move to it. The R&B fave definitely knows how to make club hits out of her songs, and with her new album “Flesh Tone”she is committed to making you dance. That’s dancing, as in moving to the beat, and not use the dance floor to S&M (stand and model) like most clubbers from New York to L.A.

The 30-year-old singer tells AP: “No one is sweating, no one is dancing,” she said. “People don’t ever dance anymore.”

The release of “Flesh Tone” comes after a period in her life where things were, let’s just say, not-so-groovy. A split from her husband, rapper Nas, (daddy to her little son, Knight), and the big back-and-forth over child-support – now is reportedly settled. Then that whole trouble with the animal rights group PETA, after Kelis was photographed in fur.

Known for her no B.S. approach, the Harlem native tells AP (on motherhood): “My kid is the center of my world. I don’t leave him ever. I take him with me everywhere. I was married. It didn’t work out. The most amazing thing came out of it. I am good with that.” She explains.

On the whole fur-flying issue with PETA the singer says: “I am not saying like I don’t care about animals and kill them all. That is retarded. It’s ridiculous. I have two pets. My sister is in school to be a veterinarian. My (late) father was a vegetarian my entire life. That is not the case at all. I took my kid to the zoo the other day. The point is, I am not the one that is killing the animals.”

There! She tells it like it is. And now done with all her drama Kelis is ready to bring YOU to the yard with the all-out danceable “Flesh Tones.”
