Go Harry!!!The latest Harry Potter flick earns $24 million in its midnight debut

Harry Potter has grown up to become a very bankable young man. With $24 million in box office sells in its midnight opening (early Friday Nov. 19), “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Pt. 1” is the third-biggest midnight opening in history – the two top spots dominated by the ‘Twilight’ movies, indicates box-office tracker Hollywood.com.

This 7th installment actually broke a record too; Harry’s own, as it outdid “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” which earned $22.2 million from its midnight shows, making it the #3 spot on the all-time list for midnight debuts.

The two spots above Harry belong to another famous franchise also adored by teenage audiences: “The Twilight Saga,” and last summer’s “Eclipse” taking a big bite out of the box office at $30 million from its midnight opener, and in 2009  “New Moon” which sank its teeth into $26.3 million.

So, do you think when part 2 of HP’s “Deathly Hallows” reaches the screens, does it really mean the end for Harry and friends?
