Golden Globes host Ricky Gervais criticized for, well, being funny!

Hollywood loves a good party but they never let drama rest, not even at the bashful festivities at Sunday’s Golden Globes, where Ricky Gervais’ humor, as the host, did not go over too well with the guests of the prestigious HFPA event. The Hollywood Reporter says that as of last night, Ricky, who is now in hot water for his sharp tongue didn’t get any offers. In fact, he told the reporter that he might not be invited back next year. What? So, he didn’t do a good job because he was actually funny?

But if he is tapped to host again?  “I’ll go (expletive) mental,” says the U.K. superstar.

HR noted that some show-biz insiders criticized Ricky for his mean jokes directed at Charlie Sheen, The Tourist and Scientologists, whom he called gay.

Yeah…, and?

Oh, Hollywood, just relax and give up the drama for two minutes.  Ricky didn’t call Scientologists gay. He only hinted at a power-couple whom outside that Hilton ballroom, not many Americans know as Scientologists, nor even care to learn when it comes to their bedroom preferences.  The public just wants to go see them blow shit up and get the bad guys. That’s what they pay for.

And so what he said all those things about Sheen and The Tourist. Where’s the breaking news?

Even Robert Downey Jr who has had his share of public ups-and-downs still had a sense of humor about it when he became the butt of a Gervais joke.  “Aside from the fact that it’s been hugely mean-spirited with mildly sinister undertones, I’d say the vibe of the show has been pretty good so far,” Said Downey referring to Ricky introducing him not by listing his hit movies but by announcing: “But many of you in this room probably know him best from such facilities as the Betty Ford Clinic and Los Angeles County Jail.”

So, chillax Hollywood!

It’s MLK day. It was an amazingly glamorous, fun night at the Globes. But let’s take today off and celebrate a real superstar and a true visionary: Dr. Martin Luther King, jr. I think, even the biggest Hollywood stars will agree on this one.
