“Rescue Me” bringing the heat until the very end

While shooting their 7th and final episode for FX, the actors on RESCUE ME say calling it quits after 93 episodes is bittersweet, reports USA Today.
“We all get along so great that we’re going to be sad to say goodbye, but I’m excited to play somebody other than the dumb guy,” says Steven Pasquale of his clueless Sean Garrity. Denis Leary the star, co-creator and co-writer of the show calls the timing “organically perfect,” adding it’s “better than working with an elephant in (bleeping) Indonesia,” referring to his 1995 Disney flop Operation Dumbo Drop.
But he won’t be resting much. Leary is already writing and directing the pilot episode of a buddy-comedy titled Two Chicks, starring Callie Thorne, who plays Sheila, his one-and-off girlfriend on Rescue Me. For their final season …, well now stretching into two seasons, Rescue Me has already 19 episodes in the can. Ten of them airing as the sixth season, beginning Tuesday (10 ET/PT), and nine more for next summer, reaching — on screen and in real life — with the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on New York.
