No Cher = No ‘Burlesque’ number, by James Franco?

James Franco as CHER! Now, this we wanted to see…, but we won’t.
The “127 Hours” actor was preparing to do a bold impersonation of CHER, during the Academy Awards ceremony on Feb. 27, co-hosted by actress Anne Hathaway, and for a while, that’s all we knew. But writer Bruce Vilanch, who writes the funny lines for the Oscars, told Vulture earlier this month: “We had a great bit where James Franco was going to come on as Cher and be interrupted by (the real) Cher, but the song (‘You Haven’t Seen the Last of Me,” from ‘Burlesque‘) wasn’t nominated, so she’s not coming.”
Now reported by The Scoop (on TODAY), is James Franco who is spilling more beans about this never-to-be-seen performance. Yes! Apparently it was Mr. Franco who was going to sing the ‘Burlesque’ tune. But over the weekend, he tweeted that the number was pulled off the show. Franco was kind enough to leave a link to the audio of his rehearsals for the song. We love James but wish he didn’t. Let’s just say the multi-talented Mr. Franco is not ‘Glee‘ material just yet. Listen to the track HERE.
