Based on Jonathan Safran Foer’s novel “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” (movie) stars Tom Hanks, Sandra Bullock and newcomer Thomas Horn (aka: the Teen Jeopardy champ), and from the looks of things, this film and it’s young star maybe headed for the years biggest red carpet event, where that famous golden man, Oscar, can come home with a few.

From the acclaimed director Stephen Daldry (“The Reader,” “Billy Elliot”), the film focuses on the search by a young boy, Oskar (played by Horn) who sets out to find answers after his father (played by Hanks) dies during the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade center, leaving the boy with a key to a mystery lock. Also starring in the now highly-anticipated movie are: Viola Davis, John Goodman and Jeffrey Wright, andMax Von Sydow.

Director Daldry needed an exceptionally intelligent kid to play Oskar Schell. Gauntlet thrown down, but not for long.

The 13-year-old Horn spends most of his time reading novels, as well as non-fiction. He is fluent in English, Croatian, he has studied Spanish, But he is not stopping there, as he is currently learning Mandarin, reports PEOPLE.

With Sandra Bullock as his role model, this guy is made for greatness. “Wow, I can’t believe I’m acting with the biggest movie star in the world.” Horn was heard reacting after meeting Bullock for the first time.

Daldry told PEOPLE, “Within 20 minutes, Thomas and Sandy were roaring with laughter … [Sandra] made him feel like he was with one of his best friends.”

Horn who won $31,800 on “Jeopardy!” in October 2010, wagering $12,000 before the final round, proclaimed himself to be relatively unfamiliar with pop culture – now he is a part of it.  Ah the irony!
